Playa Mujeres – Our favorite of the famous Playa Papagayo coves
The famous cove formation of Playa Papagayo is undoubtedly one of the most popular on the island of Lanzarote. One of the first coves is called Playa Mujeres and is our very personal favorite. With its crystal-clear, turquoise water and its fine sandy beach, it attracts countless visitors every year. But not only the beautiful nature makes this beach so unique, also the activities and excursions offered make it a must-visit for every Lanzarote vacationer.
Information
Playa Mujeres is located in the south of the island near the resort of Playa Blanca. It is part of the protected area Monumento Natural de Los Ajaches and consists of eight small coves separated by rocky cliffs. The entrance to the beach is subject to a fee until 4:00 p.m. (approximately 3 euros per person), which helps to keep it very clean.
Activities
Due to its clear waters, Playa Mujeres is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The underwater world here is extremely diverse, especially at the rock formations at the ends of the beach. Here, you can discover numerous fish and marine species.
Extra tip for hikers: The coves of Playa Papagayo are all connected by beautiful hiking trails. Just pack a towel, snacks, and drinks in your hiking backpack and go exploring, a fantastic day trip for couples.
Experience the beauty of the natural beach of Famara with its majestic cliffs
The beach of Famara is one of the most famous beaches on the island of Lanzarote and is definitely a must-visit for every visitor. It stretches over a length of 6 kilometers, thus offering enough space to relax and enjoy.

What makes this beach so special, however, are its breathtaking cliffs that rise majestically into the sky. The imposing rock formations are a real eye-catcher and give the natural beach an incomparable beauty.
Activities
Famara is known as the little Hawaii of Europe and is particularly popular among surfers. For beginners and advanced surfers, there are courses offered by numerous surf schools here. If you want to experience a unique view, we recommend climbing the cliff ‘Risco de Famara’. From here, you have a spectacular panoramic view of the beach, the azure sea, and the surrounding landscape. Also, for hikers, this area offers numerous opportunities, as there are several hiking trails along the cliffs with impressive views.
For adrenaline junkies, at the foot of the cliff, there is also the opportunity for paragliding. Fly high above the beach and enjoy the beauty of the island overlooking the small neighboring islands of La Graciosa, Montana Clara, and Alegranza.

This picturesque white sandy beach is located in the north of the island, near the charming coastal village of Orzola, and offers an idyllic setting for those who want to enjoy the natural beauty in peace.

Playa Quemada
The black sand beach of Playa Quemada on Lanzarote is a fascinating and unmistakable natural phenomenon that enchants visitors with its unparalleled beauty and rustic charm. Located in the quietest part of the southeast coast of the island, this beach offers a picturesque backdrop of volcanic origin.
Information
What makes Playa Quemada so special is its volcanic origin, reflected in its dark sand. This sand was formed by the cooling and crushing of lava that occurred many years ago during the volcanic eruptions on Lanzarote. The contrast between the dark sand and the clear blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean gives the beach a mystical atmosphere and provides a unique backdrop for visitors. The fishing houses along the coast give the beach a traditional and authentic character that reflects the history and culture of the island. After visiting the beach, it’s worth walking to the small fishing village to enjoy local delicacies and fresh fish by the coast. Definetely a special one of the beaches of Lanzarote.
Activities
The calm waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling, while the picturesque coastal landscape is perfect for walks along the beach and on the cliffs above. Whether you want to enjoy the sun, swim in the clear water, or simply admire the spectacular scenery, this secluded beach offers a unique and unforgettable experience for all visitors.
